I Have No Regrets Leaving Gospel For Secular Music – Chidinma

  Popular Nigerian singer and MTN Project Fame Season 3 winner, Chidinma Ekile has come out plain about the age-long ‘stigmatization’ of former gospel musicians who moved to the secular scene.
For Chidinma, what matters is the kind of relationship the individual has with God.
In a recent interview, she said:

“I won’t condemn anyone that moved from gospel into secular. You don’t know the kind of relationship the person has with God. Before I started, I spoke to my pastor. We had a chat and I told him I am not doing gospel. My song is for everyone, not just the church folks.
She also claims to have gotten a go-ahead from her pastor saying,
“My pastor said if that is what I want; it’s fine as long as ‘you and God are on the same page’’
She continued by saying she had never hidden the fact that she wasn’t cut out exclusively for christian/gospel music.
