According to reliable sources within the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the anti-corruption agency might have charged the former boss of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Patrick Akpobolokemi to court.

According to Sun Newspapers, the ex-NIMASA boss was using money from the agency, to sponsor hate campaigns against President Buhari during the run-off to the 2015 elections.

An EFCC Legal Department source says they have evidence that shows that the ex-DG misappropriated funds.

Adding that “the commission has gathered enough evidences to nail him on an alleged spending of N13 billion on the acquisition of land for the permanent site of the Nigerian Maritime University in Delta.”

The EFCC is also accusing Akpobolokemi of “using his office as DG to finance the lavish lifestyles of some Niger Delta militants.”
